Born in Yorkshire, a London dweller from her teens and now living in Kent – where she was surprised to discover that her ancestors hailed from Margate – the Kentish rambler is beginning to forge a career in writing after a lifetime in editing. Under the pen name Lynne Francis she has written three books in The Mill Valley Girls series, set in west Yorkshire and covering  a period from the 1850s to the present day.

She takes a break from her desk each day to walk, either from her door or further afield, taking photos and gathering inspiration wherever she goes. You’ll know her when you see her – she’s the odd person who walks alone, without a dog…
